A Video Walk Through of What Happens at a Newborn Portrait Session

Back in November of 2021 I wrote an article about what actually happens at a newborn session.  I went through all of the typically things from the moment parents and baby get into my home studio. I discuss the environment of the studio, the temperature, parents’ roles in the session, sibling photos, posing, safety, etc. I decided to make a video of me walking through the newborn session in much more detail.  I believe that understanding the newborn session process helps parents feel at ease and can help them have reasonable expectations of the session. 

Every newborn photographer I know handles their sessions differently.  We all have unique ways of approaching our sessions.  Newborn photographers have to find their own style and system that works for them and so much depends on that system such as home studio, in client homes sessions, actual studio sessions, what props they use, what poses they will and won’t do, etc. 

What I discuss in the video is my approach to newborn sessions and what I have found works for me.
