A Sweet & Sentimental Half-Birthday Session
From newborn snuggles last fall to sitting tall with sweet smiles this spring—celebrating Lyla’s 6-month milestone was such a joy! I had the honor of photographing Lyla’s newborn session, so getting to see how much she’s grown and capturing her bubbly little personality was extra special. These milestone moments truly fly by, and this session was the perfect way to celebrate her “halfway to one” with a little sparkle, flowers, and donuts!
Set 1: Purple Florals & Butterfly Whimsy
We kicked off Lyla’s milestone session with a dreamy purple floral setup. She wore the sweetest purple ruffled outfit with butterfly accents and looked absolutely darling sitting in a wooden crate surrounded by soft flowers, greenery, and whimsical props. This setup brought all the springtime magic—pastels, lacy details, and those big curious eyes of hers. I loved how the soft purples complemented Lyla’s playful expressions and calm nature.
Set 2: Pretty in Pink & Personalized Touches
Next up, we went with a warm, feminine pink scene that felt cozy and elegant. Lyla sat beautifully inside a boppy pillow with soft blush accents and florals surrounding her. For a sentimental touch, we also used a special wooden crate that had been made by a friend of Lyla’s mom, Stephanie, as a baby shower gift. It featured Lyla’s name and was decorated with florals and greenery—perfectly personal and picture-ready! I love including meaningful items in milestone sessions, and this one brought an extra layer of love to the photos.
Set 3: Donut Worry, It’s My Half Birthday!
And then came the sweetest part—Lyla’s donut-themed ½ birthday celebration! Mom brought along 6 colorful donuts to represent Lyla’s six months, and a fun “½ way to one” sign to tie the theme together. Lyla wore the cutest custom outfit with a sprinkle design and a “½” stitched on the front, topped off with an adorable party hat. Watching her curiously reach for the donuts (and sneak in a few tastes!) was the cherry on top of a delightful session.
