Sweet Simplicity: Baby Nivaan's Newborn Session with Soft Blues and a Fishing Adventure

This week, I had the pleasure of welcoming sweet little Nivaan into the studio for his very first photo session! Nivaan’s mom, Manjeshni, reached out to me just a couple of weeks ago to book a newborn session, and I couldn’t wait to meet this precious boy. Born a month early, Nivaan weighed just 5 pounds 1 ounce and measured 18 inches long. Despite his early arrival, Nivaan proved to be quite the fighter. He was strong and healthy enough to spend only four days in the NICU before heading home—a true testament to his resilience!
When Nivaan arrived at the studio, I was struck by how much he had grown in just a few short weeks. You wouldn't guess he was a preemie at all! Manjeshni had a clear vision for Nivaan’s newborn portraits: she wanted boyish colors and simple, classic setups that would perfectly highlight his adorable features. We focused on a mix of soft blues, gentle grays, and earthy tones to create a timeless and masculine feel.
Throughout the session, we explored a variety of poses, using different wraps, furs, and props to capture a range of looks. Nivaan started the session with some wonderfully sleepy moments, allowing us to capture those peaceful, curled-up poses that everyone loves in newborn photography. However, he soon decided it was time to show off his beautiful, bright eyes! During the second half of the session, Nivaan was wide awake and alert, giving us the chance to capture some fantastic shots of him gazing around, curious and attentive to the new world around him.
One of the highlights of the session was a special themed setup that mom requested—a fishing theme, in honor of dad’s passion for fishing. I loved creating this setup! We incorporated a little fishing net, a soft blue backdrop reminiscent of the ocean, and a cute fishing rod prop. It was the perfect touch to personalize the session and celebrate a hobby that's meaningful to the family.
My absolute favorite images from the session are of Nivaan in a cozy blue outfit, complete with a tiny, sleepy hat. He looked so snuggly and content, and the outfit perfectly matched the color palette mom had envisioned. There’s something so heartwarming about capturing these early moments, and it brings me so much joy to help create these cherished memories for parents.
Newborn sessions like these remind me why I love what I do. It’s an honor to be part of a family’s journey, capturing their little one’s first days and creating images that will be treasured for a lifetime. I’m so grateful to Manjeshni and her family for trusting me to photograph their precious new addition.
